Evolution of the Eye
by zound inafter doing some research on the evolution of the eye, i compiled this simple explanation of the key points.
anyone with greater knowledge please correct anything mistaken - and questions / comments welcome.
any writers that want to correct grammar/sentence structure issues would be great also.. .. .. .. an eye, simply put, is photoreceptors + structure.. the structure can be something as simple as a cup-shaped depression or pinhole lens, or as elaborate as our camera eye, an insects compound eye, or the mirror eyes of a scallop.

Faith in God should not be weak because of a wicked organization?!
by Mr Fool ini feel it strange that many here is here because of the wt organizations lies, contradictions etc (?!).
a deep and personal belief in god should not stand or fall because of a wicked organization that manipulate people.
i have a feeling that other christians in other organizations are more stable in their belief.

I concur with Doc's observation. I have no desire to go into any church, other than to admire architectural features.
I was thinking last week about if I have any belief in God left and the realization dawned on me that I see God and Satan as a package deal, right now. Since I absolutely do not believe in Satan, I can't make sense of believing in a god.

How do you feel about Common Core education?
by nonjwspouse inespecially if you are a teacher, how did you learn about it to begin with?
was there a common core rep doing a slick presentation?.
how do those of you with kids on school feel about, among others, things such as the deemphasis on the great works of literature ?.

I read some rather disturbing information about it a few months ago. I ended up feeling relieved my daughter is a junior and I'm paying for private high school. I am not a teacher so I could be mistaken in my viewpoint, I'm in Florida and the public school system is lagging way behind, based on what I see and have read.

Trying to overcome my homophobia.
by Julia Orwell ini had a music album by a gay guy before i was a jw and had no problem listening to it.
it's good music.
some of the lyrics are what you might call 'gay', that is there's some talk about boyfriends, gay bars, and queens and the intolerance the artist encountered as a gay man.

Julia,
I'm in my 30's. Raised in the U.S. In a diverse, middle income family by loving JW parents that wanted children.
While we were raised without any racism, I distinctly remember when the TV show "Will and Grace" came on. It was so funny, but my dad would make snide comments about how disgusting it was (gay men in lead role). It was easier to just not watch the show if he was around. Through the years I was never disgusted or disturbed by gay/lesbian etc. people. I chose not to dwell on the actual acts they would engage in together, as that part didn't sound pleasant or enjoyable. I think I decided a few years back, not to be offended or stumbled by other people choices. (I wasn't a typical JW). The US presidential election seemed to revolve around gay and abortion rights. While I was still an active JW, I simply couldn't understand why so many people were in such an uproar abouat two issues, that at the end of the day, don't affect their personal lives. It was so frustrating to be around judgemental, close-minded Christians, at that time (JW's and workmates).
Maybe if you watch a little comedy TV or movies featuring homosexuals, it will help you get back to the person you were before, as you see you can relate to them on some level.
I'm pretty sure my dad still thinks "Will and Grace" started the downfall of my generation. Lol.

I Am Addicted To Chocolate ! ! !
by Stauros inwhat is your favorite type of chocolate?
(a little off the topic of religion in order to relax my mind).
estephan.

Not all chocolate is vegan. We don't buy any of the obvious fake/cheap stuff, but when you read ingredients, many higher end Americanized chocolate still contains casein. Many, many items what you would assume are vegan are unfortunately not, as my teen has read in detail about ingredients since her decision to be vegan. She makes her own or we search for the good European chocolate.
For chocolate ice cream, she likes the coconut milk ice cream, in chocolate. I tried it and it's quite good.

I have a still in girlfriend getting married next year to a brother she met on that site. It would be great if the search for jwmatch could bring this site up, too and get some people to see what this one says. I was also friends with a great brother locally that joined the site. He dated someone new every few months and these desperate sisters traveled states away to meet him! I know quite a few JW's utilizing the site :) It is an option for branching out, especially if you travel and want to find a "good" hall to visit.

Suavojr and ILOVETTATT, all those locations work for me, too. Keep me posted.
I'd love to meet Paul Grundy as his site was instrumental in answering my google questions. Of course, Simon and his wife, Blondie, Outlaw, Cofty and Lois Lane would all be a treat, too.
